The Seven Doorways of Vinyasa.

Become a Yogi is built on an energetic blueprint refined across a lineage of teachers taught in full only inside the training room. What follows is a glimpse.

The Voice — The Master Teacher
The Voice — The Master Teacher

The qualities of a master teacher are not skills to acquire. They are devotions to practice.

Wisdom. Compassion. Equanimity. Love. Gratitude.

At Become a Yogi, these are the qualities we return to throughout our trainings. Because becoming a great teacher is about so much more than sequencing a class, cueing a posture, or understanding the body.

We teach our students to hold space without needing to fill it. To read a room without performing for it. To recognize that sometimes silence is the most powerful instrument in the room.

Voice, presence, rhythm, storytelling, the architecture of an entire class experience. These are the subtleties of teaching that no certification can confer. They have to be practiced, felt, and embodied.

Our approach is rooted in feeling over form, principles over poses, and helping each teacher discover their own authentic voice.

Because great teaching is not just what you say. It is who you become while you are saying it.

The Craft — The Intelligence of Flow
The Craft — The Intelligence of Flow

Intelligent sequencing is not memorization. It is rhythm, opposition, and energetic architecture.

At Become a Yogi, we teach our students to build sequences from principles rather than playlists. Where to introduce novelty, where to return to familiarity, when to challenge the edge, and when to soften around it.

Effort and rest. Squeeze and release. Up and down. Structure and surrender.

The most powerful flows are often deceptively simple, designed so the body can move without the mind needing to translate.

We believe sequencing is more than putting postures together. It is learning how to create an experience that feels intuitive, intentional, and alive.

This is the craft that separates a class that feels like a workout from one that feels like a conversation with yourself.

The Roots — Lineage, Philosophy & the Eight Limbs
The Roots — Lineage, Philosophy & the Eight Limbs

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Bhagavad Gita. The Eight Limbs of Ashtanga. The Kleshas. Sanskrit foundations and devotional practice.

At Become a Yogi, philosophy is not something we simply study or memorize. It is something we practice through our words, our actions, our relationships, and the way we move through life.

Our roots run deep in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, from Pattabhi Jois through David Williams, carried forward through Jonny Kest and into the next generation with Jonah Kest.

Generations of practice, exploration, and evolution have shaped the way we teach today. Honoring tradition while creating space for each teacher to find their own expression.

Because lineage is not simply something you inherit. It is something you practice, embody, and pass forward.

The Carrier — Breath as the Architecture of Practice
The Carrier — Breath as the Architecture of Practice

Before the postures, before the philosophy, before any of it, there is the breath.

In Hebrew, Ruach. In Hawaiian, Ha. In Sanskrit, Prana. Across traditions, breath has long been understood as the bridge between body and spirit.

At Become a Yogi, we explore Ujjayi pranayama, diaphragmatic breathing, and the bandhas through both ancient wisdom and modern science.

How breath influences the autonomic nervous system, how slower breathing can support vagal regulation, and how conscious breathing shapes our attention, energy, and emotional state.

We take roughly 20,000 breaths a day, most without awareness.

Our practice begins by bringing consciousness to the one thing we do from birth until death.

The Signature — The Seven Doorways of Vinyasa
The Signature — The Seven Doorways of Vinyasa

Refined over decades of teaching, study, and lineage transmission, the Seven Doorways are the foundational architecture behind our approach to Experiential Vinyasa.

The Seven Doorways are a framework for understanding the energetic arc of a class. A journey that begins in stillness, gradually builds through breath, movement, and intensity, reaches a peak, and slowly returns to softness, surrender, and silence.

Each doorway represents a shift in energy, rhythm, and intention, creating a natural progression that the body can feel without the mind needing to understand.

At Become a Yogi, we teach the principles behind this energetic blueprint, helping teachers understand not just what to teach, but when, why, and how to guide the experience.

Because the most powerful classes are not simply sequences of postures. They are journeys of energy, awareness, and transformation.

Dharma Conversations

Three generations of Kests learned the practice through teachers sitting across from people who knew more, asked harder questions, made us less sure of our own answers. This is the same work, in modern form. Long-form conversations with the voices shaping how the practice lives today. We learn in dialogue. The mat is just where we put it to work.

Join the Family

Over 3000 students and teachers from around the world sharing flows, planning retreats, asking the real questions. Free to join. Impossible to leave.

Jonah is such a wealth of knowledge and inspiring teacher. This was an incredible and expansive experience. Highly recommend it.

Carey MCarey M

Absolutely incredible, love the entire experience, the people, the space and the learnings! Forever grateful and will be back again!

Carrie BCarrie B

Amazing time with great group of people! From breathwork, vinyasa flow to yoga on the beach (ouch hamstring but oh so good). Jonah has such a gift of teaching - time flies quickly but the friends you made last forever! Great experience for students and teachers alike!

Siska HSiska H

Profound. I came into this trip from seeing a post on social media so it's as close as can be to seeing it on TV/not having much knowledge of the Seven Doorways aside from the beautiful flow clips shared on social media. I've done 200 hour trainings - which I mention only to highlight it doesn't take much time to impart impactful wisdom.

Wendy CWendy C

If you want to transform your life - I can't recommend a training or retreat with Become a Yogi enough. The yogi does the work, but the way they create and hold sacred — lets that unfold so naturally. I've done two 20-hour immersions this year and I'm headed into the 300 next..

Jennifer KJennifer K

I went in open and left completely transformed. I loved the way Jonah pushes you to really discover your edge; I have a tendency to sometimes pull back when I am tired or not sure I can keep flowing/hold posture, and what I discovered in this training was that my capacity to stay and breathe even 5 more breaths is SO much more than I had been giving myself credit for.

Jonah Kest's 20-hour Become a Yogi Retreat was nothing short of extraordinary. His teaching style blends wisdom, authenticity, and humor, creating an experience that feels both challenging and accessible.

Spencer BSpencer B

I had the pleasure of taking Jonah's 20-Hour Art of Vinyasa Training in Miami. I didn't realize how much I needed this training. I was feeling a bit stagnate in my teaching and in my practice and it felt like a creative reset - like someone lit a spark that had been dimmed by staying in my comfort zone.

Emma HEmma H

Attending The Art of Vinyasa — specifically The Seven Doorways program — and training directly with the founders, Jonny and Jonah Kest, was an epic, mind-blowing journey. The experience felt uniquely personal; the Kests are incredibly humble and welcoming, treating you like friends they've known forever while sharing the full backstory of how the practice came about.
