Photo and Media Release
Last updated: April 6, 2026
This Photo and Media Release ("Release") describes how Become A Yogi may capture and use photographs, video, and audio recordings of you during our trainings, retreats, masterclasses, and other in-person programs. By participating in any of our programs, you agree to the terms below unless you opt out as described in Section 6.
1. The Practice of Capturing Programs
Become A Yogi often documents our trainings, retreats, and masterclasses through professional photography and video. These captures serve several purposes:
- Educational — to create instructional materials, case studies, and reference content for current and future participants.
- Archival — to preserve a record of our work, our community, and the lineage we carry forward.
- Marketing and storytelling — to share the experience of our programs with people who may be considering joining us in the future, through our website, social media, newsletter, and other channels.
- Alumni gifts — to share photographs and videos with participants as a personal memento of their experience.
2. Grant of Rights
By participating in a Become A Yogi program (and unless you have opted out as described in Section 6), you grant Become A Yogi and its founder Jonah Kest the following rights, free of charge and worldwide:
- The right to photograph, film, and audio-record you during the program.
- The right to use, reproduce, edit, modify, adapt, publish, exhibit, distribute, and display these recordings.
- The right to use your name, likeness, voice, and any related identifying information in connection with these recordings.
- The right to use these recordings on the Become A Yogi website, social media accounts (including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok), newsletter, marketing campaigns, advertising materials, brochures, books, online courses, and any other channels through which Become A Yogi communicates with its audience.
- The right to license these recordings to third-party media outlets and partners for editorial, promotional, and educational purposes related to Become A Yogi.
This grant is perpetual and irrevocable, except as described in Section 7.
3. No Compensation
You acknowledge that you will not receive any compensation — financial or otherwise — for the use of your likeness, name, or voice as described in this Release. Your participation in our programs and the experience itself are the consideration for this Release.
4. No Approval Rights
You acknowledge that Become A Yogi has the sole discretion to choose which images, videos, or recordings to use and how to edit, caption, and present them. You waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product before it is published or distributed.
5. Representations and Warranties
You represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into this Release.
- You are not subject to any contract, agreement, or other restriction that would prevent you from granting the rights described in this Release.
- The grant of rights in this Release does not infringe the rights of any third party.
6. How to Opt Out
If you do not wish to be photographed, filmed, or recorded during a Become A Yogi program, you may opt out by:
- Notifying us in writing at info@becomeayogi.com before the program begins, stating your name, the program you are attending, and your wish to opt out.
- Notifying the lead instructor in person on the first day of the program.
- Wearing a designated visual indicator (such as a wristband or sticker) that we will provide on request, so our photographers and videographers can recognize and respect your preference.
We will make every reasonable effort to honor opt-outs, including instructing our photographers, videographers, and editing teams to exclude opted-out participants from final media. However, in group settings (such as full-room shots, drone footage, or wide-angle ceremony coverage) it may not be possible to guarantee that opted-out participants do not appear incidentally. By opting out, you accept this practical limitation while we still commit to using best efforts to respect your wishes.
7. Right to Request Removal
If a photograph or video of you has been published and you would like it removed, you may contact us at info@becomeayogi.com with a description of the image (including where it was used) and your request. We will:
- Remove the image from materials we directly control (such as our website, our social media accounts, and current marketing materials) within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days.
- Make reasonable efforts to remove the image from materials distributed to third parties, though we cannot guarantee removal from materials already in the public domain (such as press articles or third-party reposts) or from archival copies held by third parties.
- Honor your request without questioning your reasons.
8. Children
Our programs are open only to adults aged 18 and over, so this Release is not intended to apply to minors. In the rare event that a minor attends a program with parental consent, a separate parental Photo and Media Release will be required, signed by the minor's parent or legal guardian.
9. Other Participants and Photographers
You acknowledge that other participants in our programs may also take photographs and videos for their personal use, and that you have no recourse against Become A Yogi for the actions of other participants. We ask all participants to respect each other's privacy and to obtain consent before publishing identifiable images of other participants on social media or elsewhere.
10. Severability
If any provision of this Release is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that this Release shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
11. Governing Law
This Release is governed by the laws of the State of [State to be confirmed by counsel], United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
12. Acknowledgment
By signing this Release (electronically or in writing), checking the acceptance box, participating in a Become A Yogi program without opting out, or otherwise indicating your agreement, you acknowledge that you have read this Release, understand its terms, and agree to be bound by it.
13. Contact
For questions, opt-out requests, or removal requests, contact us at info@becomeayogi.com.
